Which Door?

I see an open door to reflection and retreat. Am I am willing to step through with an open heart?

Like animals and birds that sense the upcoming turn in the seasons, there is a part of me that knows it is time to think seriously about going on retreat or making a substantial change in my spiritual life.

Last year I investigated joining a lay spiritual group in New York, which I still might do. But I am also seeking out other kinds of spiritual communities. Possibilities blow towards me like leaves swirling in a fall wind.

- Learn the Liturgy of the Hours. Incorporate the peace and connectedness of communal prayer in my life?

- Study the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola. Apply its rigorous examination to deepen my own life?

- Try "christian yoga," a form of prayer that is part meditation/part exercise. Will it help me to be more aware of God's presence in my life?

Which one?
